I wondered if she got the grammar wrong
But no, she said it was fine
She said she wrote a song called “my sunshine”
Thought maybe I’d write one too
I said I’d make one for her line by line
She said this one’s for you

You make the skies less gray

I’ll play mine too
Just don’t take your my sunshine away

She said “your my sunshine is better than mine” I told her they weren’t the same
She said something about apples and oranges I asked if it was a game
I asked her if our songs were too different, maybe fruits weren’t ideal for this song
She said if we were more like apples and oranges it would be so easy to just get along

I asked if her my sunshine was finished
She said your my sunshine was best
I told her it wasn’t a competition
She told me to lay it to rest
I asked her what her next song was about
She said snapples and floranges
I had a feeling I knew what was coming
